Vampires Rise on HBO

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Moonlight may be gone, but vampires are here to stay, this time in the new HBO show, True Blood.  Check this out:

In the not-too-distant future, vampires have come out of the coffin.  Thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood, vampires no longer need humans for their fix and can walk freely, if not yet comfortably, among their living counterparts – though they can still come out only at night.

Meanwhile, in the backwoods Louisiana town of Bon Temps, Sookie Stackhouse works as a waitress at the down-home bar Merlotte’s.  Though outwardly normal, she has unusual qualities of her own:  Sookie can read minds, which complicates her world in endless ways.  But Sookie’s life becomes a lot more interesting when Merlotte’s gets its first vampire patron – the 173-year-old Bill Compton – and the two outsiders are immediately drawn to each other.

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the new HBO series TRUE BLOOD kicks off its 12-episode first season SUNDAY, SEPT. 7 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT).

The show stars Anna Paquin from X-Men and Stephen Moyer of The Starter Wife.  It’s supposed to be quite sexy and since it’s on HBO you know they can make it so.

Kelly Preston Guests on Medium

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Kely_Preston Kelly Preston is joining Medium for a four episode arc, beginning Monday, April 14, 10-11:00 pm.

Her first episode is called “Partners In Crime,” where she plays Meghan Doyle, an attractive venture capitalist who likes what she sees when Joe Dubois (Jake Weber) makes a presentation on his new solar power-based invention to her investment firm. Her decision to independently fund and become business partners with Joe ultimately creates tension in his marriage to Allison (Emmy winner Patricia Arquette).

“We’re thrilled to have Kelly join us for the final episodes of Season 4,” said Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron. “For the role of Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist who decides to underwrite Joe, we needed an actress who exuded both intelligence and sexuality. Someone who could stand toe-to-toe with Patricia and Jake, and credibly create chaos in a household and a marriage that is as strong as any on television.”

More News on the Ghost Whisperer Comic

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

GHOST WHISPERER Fans of Ghost Whisperer may not be able to communicate with the dead, but come March they will get to see more ghosts who are stuck between earth and the afterlife. That’s because IDW Publishing (www.idwpublishing.com) is presenting a five-issue monthly comic series that spins out of the hit CBS television show starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon, the medium who helps ghosts cross over. The all-new comic series was written by Ghost Whisperer TV show writers Carrie Smith and Becca Smith and have art by Elena Casagrande, who also did the art for IDW Publishing’s Star Trek Alien Spotlight: Orions.

“Our storyline is going to be written by people who are well aware of the overall story, as well as what is going to happen in the show that the fans don’t even know about yet,” says Tom Waltz, the series editor. “So the storyline is true to series without spoiling anything that is yet to come.”

The comics fit in after Season 2 and before Season 3 and, as in the show, Melinda spends her days and nights helping earthbound spirits cross into the Light. But in this series Melinda gets more than she bargained for when she comes face-to-face with Osiris, Egyptian God of the Dead, who wants the souls for himself.

Kim & Ian Talk "Bad Blood"

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

chk_ranchs Kim and Ian have updated their “Ghost Whisperer” blog over at TVGuide talking about the truly creepy “Bad Blood.”  I’m such a Universal Studios fanatic, I just think it’s cool that they filmed in the “Best LIttle Whorehouse in Texas” house.  I’ve been by that so many times on the tram and ironically it sits just below the “Psycho” house, so it’s a truly haunted area!

Read all about that house and see what’s been filmed there at The Studio Tour website.
